Work by Ashokan artist shown at Catskill Watershed office

MARGARETVILLE, NY, Dec. 16, 2005 - "Catskill Watercourse," landscapes by Ashokan artist Robert Selkowitz, are on exhibit through mid-2006 at the Catskill Watershed Corporation offices, 905 Main Street, Margaretville.

The public is invited to stop in during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 to 4:30) to see the pastels, which are set along the Esopus and Sawkill Creeks, the Ashokan Reservoir, the East Branch of the Delaware River and the wild reaches beneath Peekamoose Mountain and Kaaterskill Falls.

All but one of the paintings were completed on site to capture the light and atmospheric conditions that commanded the artists’ attention. The framed works are available for sale, as are copies of a 2004 book, A Painter’s Path Through the Catskill Mountains: Landscapes in Pastel, a compilation of Selkowitz’s regional work.

TSelkowitz has resided in the Catskills since 1975. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and earned his Master’s in Fine Arts at Bard College. His paintings have been widely published in art posters, notecards and calendars.

For images of his work and more information, visit www.artfolks.com, or stop by Sunlight Studio, 3024 Route 28, Ashokan.
