CWC supports museum, businesses, E-Center

MARGARETVILLE, NY, April 26, 2006 - The Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC) will administer a $200,000 grant awarded by the NYS Department of Economic Development to help Sportsfield Specialtiesto maximize production efficiency and improve environmental performance at its Delhi plant.

The funds will be matched by other financing obtained by Sportsfield and will be used to acquire equipment to eliminate volatile organic chemicals in their manufacturing process. Sportsfield produces goal posts, press boxes, track and field equipment and other items used on athletic fields and running tracks.

The CWC’s Board of Directors, meeting April 25, authorized contracts with Sportsfield and the state Economic Development agency, which awarded the grant under its Environmental Incentives Program.

Also at its monthly meeting, the Board:

  • Approved entering into a partnership with the Catskill Development Foundation and authorized $150,000 towards completing the foundation’s Delaware E-Center in Delhi. A water testing laboratory, part of the Delhi Center for Excellence in Watershed Applications, will also be established at the E-Center.

The Board publicly recognized the potential contributions -- scientific, economic, environmental and social – of the Discovery Center, which is envisioned for a site in Arkville, Town of Middletown.

  • Approved a low-interest loan to Alexios Kambouris (A&G Customade Furniture, Inc.) to help purchase, develop and equip a site on Route 209 in Accord, Town of Rochester, for use as a retail showroom and sales outlet for unfinished furniture
