Liman Landscapes on view at CWC MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., February 16, 2007 -- A selection of landscape paintings by Greene County artist Peter Liman is on view at the Catskill Watershed Corporation offices in Margaretville through April. The exhibit can be seen weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the CWC, 905 Main Street, Margaretville. Liman, who divides his time between New Jersey and Windham, paints from his Big Hollow Studio in the hamlet of Maplecrest. His favored medium is oil, but he also works in pastels. Liman’s country scenes, seascapes and still lifes are rendered in an impressionistic style, textured, bold in color and full of energy. "My work isn’t about perfection, but, rather, capturing a feeling about my subject," Liman explains. "Generally, it’s soaking up the spirit of the atmospheric scene I’m privileged to behold, and rendering my impression of that special moment in time." The artist has exhibited his work at many regional galleries, and in New Jersey, He is on the Board of the Windham Arts Alliance, and is an active member of the Greene County Council on the Arts and the Ridgewood (NJ) Art Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a master’s in arts from Harvard. The CWC is a non-profit local development corporation with the dual goal of protecting water quality and preserving communities in the West-of-Hudson New York City Watershed.
