Reservoir fishing days planned

MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., April 30, 2007 - A family fishing day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 5 from 11 to 3 at the Pepacton Reservoir, hosted by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Catskill Watershed Corporation (CWC).

The Take Your Kid Fishing Day gathering point will be at the parking area with the reservoir information kiosk on the south end of the Shavertown Bridge on Route 30, nine miles south of Margaretville. Rod and tackle will be available and DEP staffers will be on hand to offer assistance to new anglers.

Bait will be provided by Tremperskill Country Store, and the CWC will offer free refreshments.

Adults will be required to have a New York State fishing license, however New York City Access Permits will not be required for this or other Take a Kid Fishing Days planned for this spring.

Those events will be at the Ashokan Reservoir May 12 (meet at the Woodstock Dike, Hurley, off Route 28); the Rondout Reservoir June 9 (Route 55A, seven miles from Grahamsville at the Trout Creek Bridge), and Cannonsville Reservoir June 23 (at the Cannonsville Bridge, Route 10).

Other Fishing Day supporters include the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Gander Mountain, Gifford’s Sports Supply of Walton and Bushkill Rod & Gun Club.
