CWC loans to fund transfer station, Margaretville building purchase MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., June 22, 2007 -- Low-interest loans were recently approved by the Catskill Watershed Corporation to assist several business projects in Delaware and Ulster Counties. Frank Flachs, owner of Catskill Mountain Transfer, Inc. will utilize a loan to build and equip a construction and demolition (C&D) debris transfer station on eight acres of land at the corner of Cottone Road and NYS Route 23 in the Town of Roxbury. The project includes two buildings, one 70’x70’, the other 24’x30, plus a truck scale and other equipment. The facility is intended to serve commercial haulers and homeowners who now must transport C&D waste to Walton, Kingston or Cobleskill. The transfer station will save fuel and time for waste haulers and generators within a 20-mile radius, and will allow recyclables to be sorted from the rest of the waste stream. It is hoped that it will also cut down on illegal dumping of C&D debris. A loan was also approved to help Frank and Helene Manzo purchase the Commons building at 785 Main St., Margaretville. The Manzos, who own homes in Brooklyn and Roxbury as well as several income properties, intend to operate the building as a "mini-mall" of diverse retail shops.
