CWC exhibits images by Grand Gorge photographer

MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2008 - The photographs of Marguerite Rocholl are on view through April 1 at the Catskill Watershed Corporation offices, 905 Main Street, Margaretville.

The exhibit can be seen from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. All of the framed photographs are for sale.

Rocholl and her husband Ted live on a former farm on Ferris Hill Road, Grand Gorge. The photographs in the CWC exhibit were taken in that vicinity and demonstrate Rocholl’s eye for the long view, as well as intimate details that often escape notice in a busy world.

The eleven photographs include the hamlet of Grand Gorge, dwarfed by a snowy mountain; yellow wildflowers framed by a white barn door; a swing, silenced by winter; early morning sun glinting across a farm pond; the "notch" looking south from Route 30 towards Roxbury.

Photography comes naturally to Rocholl. Her father, Ed Clarity, was an award-winning photographer for the New York Daily News. His encouragement and tutelage encouraged her to submit her photos to a stock photo agency. She has since seen her work used in commercial catalogs, brochures, text books and calendars.

She recently worked with the Navketan International Film Company doing the still photography for the movie "Love at Times Square."

The Rocholls travel extensively and many of her photographs, exhibited in galleries, restaurants and other regional venues, depict the landscapes and faces of exotic locales.

"But," she explains, "my preference remains the beautiful vistas of the Catskills."
