Delaware County honors Perry Shelton

MARGARETVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2008 - The photographs of Marguerite Rocholl are on view through April 1 at the Catskill Watershed Corporation offices, 905 Main Street, Margaretville.

Perry Shelton, right, for more than four decades the supervisor of the Town of Tompkins, was presented with a plaque by Delaware County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jim Eisel honoring his leadership and commitment. The "Lifetime Achievement Award" recognized Shelton’s hard work and dedication and the "significant impact" he has made on bettering the lives of county residents. Because Shelton could not attend his final meeting of the County Board in December due to illness, the presentation was made January 3 during committee meeting day at the Catskill Watershed Corporation, where Shelton is president and Eisel is a member of the Board of Directors. Shelton, who has served on the Tompkins Town Board since 1955, was greeted with a standing ovation by fellow CWC board members who hailed his legacy of leadership during negotiations for the 1997 New York City Watershed Agreement.
