TREKKERS SHOW THEIR STUFF - Sidney High School students who hiked, floated and rowed 150 miles from the Catskill high peaks to New York City last summer were the center of attention March 1 at the opening reception for an exhibit on the Mountaintop to Tap Trek at the Catskill Center for Conservation & Development. The exhibit features photographs taken by the students, and excerpts from their journals, as well as backpacks, a tent, hiking staffs and a variety of items carried by the trekkers on their three-week journey. The event signified the route of water that originates in the Catskills and ends up in the taps of millions of city dwellers. Pictured are (l. to r.) Becca Miner, Sarah Pate, Bryan Price, Marissa Morton and Robert Loibl. Not pictured were Sarah Place, and teachers Todd Paternoster and Ed McGee. Six students from the Harbor School in New York City also made the journey. The exhibit is on view at the Catskill Center, Route 28, Arkville, weekdays from 9 to 5, and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, through April 26. It then travels to the Queens Museum of Art. It will on display at the Sidney Memorial Public Library during the month of July. The exhibit, and an accompanying documentary video, which will be screened at the Catskill Center April 19 at 7 p.m., were made possible in part with funds from the Catskill Watershed Corporation, in partnership with the New York City Department of Environnental Protection.
