CWC exhibit features "Catskill Images"

MARGARETVILLE, NY, May 4, 2009 - A new exhibition of 17 watercolors by Margaretville artist Oneida Hammond is now on view at the offices of the Catskill Watershed Corporation, 905 Main St., Margaretville.

"Catskill Images" a collection of paintings inspired by scenes found around every bend in the rural Catskills, may be seen weekdays from 8 to 4:30 through June 30.

Oneida Hammond was born and raised in Panama. She received her artistic education there at the Academy of Art, and continued her studies in the US under several well-known instructors. Oneida also earned degrees in Biology and Chemistry and holds a Master’s Degree in Education.

Her professional experience runs the gamut from medical illustrator to teacher to graphic designer. She has taught at the college level, as well as to adults and for many years was an instructor at Yosemite National Park.

Oneida has won more than 200 awards for her work. She is also frequently called upon to demonstrate her art, and to judge art shows.

The watercolors in the CWC show range from a series of distinctive barns, to one-room schools, to flowers and vegetables spied at a local farmers market
